When did The TARDIS get so easy to navigate??

I've been wondering how The Doctor had become so proficient at controlling the TARDIS.  I mean, he has been able to 'land' the thing at the exact time he wants.  For a while he couldn't land it on the planet he wanted.  What gives?

Well, Charlie Jane Anders thought the same thing!  And she wrote about it!

MGM and it's 2010 Bankruptcy

mgm-logo.jpg
Atomic Popcorn

Why does it matter to us at TabooLy?
Well, two main reasons are:

1) They hold the rights to James Bond and the bankruptcy is holding up the 23rd MGM James Bond release
2) They hold the film rights to The Hobbit, see above for the impact

So, big deal to the readers of TabooLy!
They are confident something can be worked out (given their assets - i.e. their film library) they should be able to find someone willing to take on the liabilities.  However, the delay is holding up two film series!

Mike Portnoy tried to rejoin Dream Theater?

Mike Portnoy Posts That Dream Theater "Declined" His Offer To Rejoin The Band

From EddieTrunk.com -
Former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy has issued the following message via his official Forum:
"Just for the record, this is indeed true.  Fairly recently, I reached out to the guys to try and make amends and offered to reconcile for the sake of having peace back in our lives... (plus I know how much it meant to a lot of the fans...).  I figured it was still possible to try and save us because they hadn't made any announcements yet or begun any public activity with another drummer... but sadly, they declined my offer (well, actually their lawyer did...t hey didn't even tell me themselves....).

Sorry gang, I honestly gave it my all.

So now the fans on my Twitter and Facebook can please stop asking me to go back to DT... I tried, and the door is now shut... the ball is now in their court, not mine.

PS - I'm not crying or looking for mercy by posting this... I am merely trying to set the record straight as that is always the most important thing about my relationship with you guys... no BS, no spins, nothing to hide... and for better or for worse, I tell it like it is.
I've also recently seen some people accuse my online activity of "looking for attention or media coverage" or "looking for sympathy", but it's honestly none of the above... I merely value having an open and active communication with my fans... always have, always will... it is the cornerstone of everything I've done since day #1 with DT.

This was posted here FOR YOU GUYS to know about... here on MY message board on MY website.... if it ends up on (on music news sites), that is THEIR choice to spread, I did not request it or send out a "press release."

Anyways, onward and upward... I've got a lot of great music and ideas waiting to come out of me and a lot of exciting collaborations in the works... so goodbye 2010... bring on 2011!"

It's back, and they've brought USB ports and 2 GB.  Wow.  'Pool of Radiance' would haul on this bad boy!

TRON:Legacy comic on iTunes!

+

"Tron: Legacy" to Be Turned Into Comic for iPhone, iPad Users
'Tron: Legacy, the highly anticipated movie to be released Friday, isn't the only plan that Disney and Double Barrel Motion Studios has in store for fans of the 1982 cult favorite. According to a New York Times blog by Adam Kepler, the two companies will adapt "Tron: Legacy" into a motion comic that will be made available through the Apples iTunes app store.

According to the NY Times blog:
Jeff Krelitz, chief executive of Double Barrel Motion Studios, who also served as director of animation on the project, explained that the motion comic was a “straight adaptation” of the film but skewed slightly to appeal to children under the age of 8.
Now, with just a slight movement of the finger, iPhone and iPad users will be able to view the "Tron" comic.
"What you see will be an animated, younger version of the film with the actual voice track that goes into the animation," Krelitz said.
In addition to the voice track, the audio track in the original musical score by Daft Punk for "Tron: Legacy" will "complete" the experience

More Torchwood Casting News -

They are having Yank Love at The Beeb! 2nd American cast announcement this week.

Torchwood: Children of Earth
'Everyone's alien-fighting president, Bill Pullman, has joined the new series in an unspecified role. Series writer Jane Espenson confirmed the casting via Twitter. He's reportedly playing a character called Oswald Jones, and here's his character description:
Oswald Jones is dangerously clever, a psychotic, convicted murderer and pedophile. He escapes his lifelong prison sentence on a technicality and quickly becomes a media sensation.
Genuinely repentant yet boiling with lust and rage, Oswald gets caught up in a terrifying worldwide crisis.
So...he's not playing the alien-fighting president, then? [Deadline]'

Fiction from Confusingous ...

In general, we here at TabooLy take anything Confusingous tells us with a grain of salt, but he claims that he found this excerpt of a work in progress scribbled on a notepad in the trunk of his car.  He has no recollection of writing it but says it is posted in his own handwriting.  As a favor to our favorite See-er, we post his work:

"'I don't much recall ever starting trouble,' he said.  Spit shot out of his mouth as a smirk crossed his weathered face.  'But I always remembering ending it.'  Tobacco dripped down his two day old whiskers as he looked up to me.

I marked down his words on my pad.  He thought himself quite clever but I've heard variations on that theme countless times.  I bid him good day as I walked away from his cell and out of the sheriffs office.

There is a fine line between law and order and, well, the other side.  Sometimes it is measured not by who you shoot but where you shoot them.  Not by why you kill but when you kill.
I've talked to many men.  Reminiscing behind bars or standing in front of bartenders.  Their stories usually end where on man has a badge and one man does not.  And what happens next usually depends where I got the story from: in a sheriffs office or in a saloon."
